Second Acts

December 30, 2006 / by Bookworm

I just started reading a very interesting book, SECOND ACTS by Mark K. Updegrove. It's about the Presidential Lives and Legacies After the White House. It features Harry Truman and the successive presidents through Clinton. It has a very interesting introduction too that mentions things I never knew about other presidents such as Washington, Jefferson, Grant, Hoover, Wilson, Teddy Roosevelt and FDR among others. I'm sure this is going to be a very informative and interesting book. Some of these men became more likeable and memorable after their presidential terms than during.

I just noticed the ad had changed What a nerve to ad on my page, but then I guess it's their right as we get this free. I myself like Rudy better than John, but haven't decided on any candidate yet. I like Obama too.

I can't believe it's been almost 3 months since I've checked Blogster. It was a long hard winter. I'm in my 3rd act too and I hate to be negative, but I'm not sure sure it's as great as the first act. It's more like rusty years instead of golden years?

I once had a professor who wanted to teach a course about the presidents, but the university wouldn't let him. So he called it something else, and taught what he wanted to: the presidents!! It was fascinating. He was a good, kind, intelligent, wonderfully humorous man! A most interesting part of the course was about the wives of the presidents!! This sounds like the kind of book that I would be compelled to search out and read!!![SMILE][SMILE][SMILE][HEART]

I've been absent from Blogster, so it's been about 3 months since I read that book, but it was a very interesting book and I learned so much from it about the different presidents and gained respect for the ones that I thought I didn't like. As human beings they were all great, regardless of their party and I'm glad I read it.

I know what you mean. Reading is the best! Now I'm reding another good book, INFIDEL by Ayaan Hirsi Ali. A true story abut her life and growing up years as a Muslim.

I've noticed that you've been gone from Blogster for a LONG time! Welcome back!! Wow! You've got a cool ad for John McCain. Whether you like him or not, the ad moved!!! [HEART][SMILE][HEART][HEART]

OMG! I didnt even know that John McCain ad was there. I didn't put it there. I wonder how it got there. He must have paid Blogster to put his ad up?? Very strange. I like John McCain and read his book which was very good, but I'm not leaning towards him right now. I have 2 choices I'm leaning towards and one is a Republican and the other a Democrat. However, by 2008 I may change my mind and will have to settle on just one and it might be someone else. Who knows!
